From program launch to success, Goodsell Marketing is with you every step of the way.

It’s hard to believe that we’re already a third of the way through 2024, and at this point of the year, many merchants are starting to get a pretty good idea as to whether their annual affiliate marketing game plans are producing the results they were hoping for.

If you’re looking back on your Q1 performance marketing metrics and seeing nothing but red, don’t fret. There’s still time to change course and get your program back on the right track. And, one of the best places to start is with a trusted, experienced and qualified agency that can work with you to build an effective affiliate marketing strategy that fits your budget and needs.

And if your business has yet to launch an affiliate marketing program, there’s no better time than the present to get one off the ground. Affiliate marketing spend is growing at a staggering rate (10% Year-over-Year) and it’s estimated that the affiliate marketing industry will be worth an eye-popping $36.9 billion by 2030.1 Additionally, recent data shows that affiliate marketing brings a 12:1 return on ad spend (ROAS), on average.2

LinkConnector’s spotlight series features several brilliant agency partners who excel in launching affiliate programs, navigating challenges, and facilitating profitable partnerships.

This edition takes us to sunny San Diego, where we are thrilled to present a longtime, trusted LinkConnector agency partner, Goodsell Marketing. Founded in 2014 and run by sisters Laura Goodsell (Founder & Managing Partner) and Lisa Beiser (Managing Partner & Controller). Goodsell Marketing empowers clients to hit their performance marketing objectives through unique, individualized strategies.

Boasting decades of industry experience, the Goodsell Marketing team functions as an extension of each client’s Marketing Department, offering dedicated support every step of the way.

We recently connected with Laura to discuss her affiliate marketing philosophies and learn a little more about why Goodsell Marketing has become the go-to agency for so many merchants.

Laura, what sets Goodsell Marketing apart from other agencies?

LG: At Goodsell Marketing, all clients have me as their main point of contact, so they can be assured that they are in experienced hands. Goodsell Marketing purposefully keeps its client base small so that we can provide individualized attention to every advertiser in our portfolio. There is no cookie-cutter design to the way we manage our client’s affiliate programs, each one is a unique, multi-faceted jewel.

What are some common misconceptions people have about affiliate marketing?

LG: Some people think of affiliate marketing in terms of the old days when coupon and deal sites were king. Now, any online (and offline!) marketing task can be performed by an affiliate on a commission-only basis. Our advertisers let us know what marketing tactics they would like to outsource to affiliates and we locate the best partner for the job. From Search Marketing and Google PLAs to Social Media Marketing and Content Creation, there are affiliates who will jump at the opportunity to get involved.

How do you tailor affiliate marketing strategies to fit the unique needs and goals of each client?

LG: Goodsell Marketing positions itself as part of the Marketing Team to help with the overall online strategy. We listen to the goals beyond revenue and translate this into a plan for affiliates and other CPA tactics. Whether brand protection is of the highest concern or driving revenue is of utmost importance, we take those priorities into the affiliate channel and hand-select premium affiliates to work for our clients.

What metrics do you prioritize when measuring the success of affiliate marketing campaigns?

LG: Affiliate revenue is always at the forefront of reporting, but we need to ensure that this revenue is incremental to our clients. Working with network reporting and analytics tools, we look at the path to conversion to ensure that affiliates are a valuable part of the customer’s journey. We consider the full funnel from the first click to the last click and ensure that the affiliates that drive the most value are commissioned accordingly.

Can you share a recent success story that highlights the effectiveness of your affiliate marketing strategies?

LG: Recently, Goodsell Marketing took over management of an affiliate marketing program that had been moved between a couple of other agencies, but the client was not satisfied that the affiliates were providing incremental revenue to their in-house marketing efforts. By cutting the affiliate base to just the most effective revenue generators, plus adding some tactical partnerships and using unique commissioning strategies, the client now feels secure in the affiliate activity.  Plus, affiliate revenue has grown more than 2x YoY.
